Dark Avenger, Also known as Batman: Dark Avenger,[1] is a 2016 Fan Series that was created by Jacob Dick and actor/director Jake C. Young, based upon the Batman franchise. The series is the story of Zach Snyder's Batman, portrayed by Ben Affleck, At about 20 years younger and how he came to be. As referenced in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

When Bruce Wayne, portrayed by Jake. C Young, returns to his home in Gotham City following the death of his parents 17 years earlier he finds that the city he once knew has changed for the worst. He is first accompanied by his deceased uncle's best friend and head of security Alfred Pennyworth. Alfred and Bruce become close and we see the beginning of their "father son like relationship" throughout the series. The new Gotham Vigilante Sparks interest in the young detective Jim Gordon, who is the older Brother of Barbra Gordon, as we find out in the second episode "Other Birds". Once Bruce is brutally stabbed by a local criminal named Black Mask, Alfred talks him in to "wearing stupid mask's and capes" and he dawns his first night as Batman. Along the way Bruce acquires an accomplice named Richard Grayson who eventually becomes Robin. Along side him he also has, Batgirl, and Kara Zor-EL, of the planet Krypton.

The show's concept was created when Creator Jacob Dick and Jake C. Young were working together on the film My Story, formed from the song by Big Daddy Weave in which Jake C. Young stars as Jesus of Nazareth. Jacob Dick said he wanted to help with the series getting started. Young was then ask to star as the main character due to his striking resemblance to a younger Ben Affleck, who was to portray the character later that year. The show had a low budget and was shot over a long period of time.

Facts[edit]

  1. Filmmaker Jake C. Young is a long time Batman fan, having also made his own films previously.
  2. Austin Griffin was also the crew's Production Designer and Art creator, having previously designed costumes and drawing comics.
  3. Most of the crew took acting lessons from Zach Bales, who is an author and filmmaker.
  4. Jake C. Young acquired a case of pneumonia while filming the season final in the winter of 2015.
  5. Originally the Pilot episode was to be for a small showing and had no intention of becoming a series.
  6. There has been talk of a Season 2 that is scheduled to begin filming in the summer of 2016, with the original cast returning.
  7. [2] Austin Griffin reported that Young's suit for season 2 would resemble a cross between the Batman: Arkham Knight suit and Christian Bale's Batman suit.
  8. A movie script is also in the works, by screenwriter and actor Billy Lane, who has also ben cast to play as Oliver Queen in the film.
